Fervante musulmane, Hajra Bee refusa de continuer à porter la burka après la catastrophe. « J’ai du sortir et me débrouiller par moi-même pour subvenir aux besoins de la famille, la burka n’avait alors plus d’importance… »
Juste après la catastrophe, son mari quitta le foyer, la laissant seule avec ses quatre enfants. Elle est une survivante du gaz et vit à J.P. Nagar, un quartier mitoyen de l’usine. « Dans la nuit du 3 décembre, une amie, enceinte et mère d’une fille de 15 mois s’est électrocutée dans un poste électrique: elle ne voyait plus rien. »
Hajra a mené une vie de combattante. « Je suis déterminée à marcher jusqu’à rencontrer le Premier Ministre et lui demander de respecter nos droits. »

A devout Muslim, she refused to continue wearing a burka after the disaster. « I had to go out and work myself to sustain the needs of my family. The burka no longer had any importance… » Shortly after the disaster, her husband abandoned the family, leaving her alone with their four children.
She is a gas survivor and lives in J.P. Nagar, a neighbourhood right next to the factory. « In the night of December 3, a friend, pregnant and mother of a 15 months old girl, has been electrocuted in an electric station: she couldn’t see anything »
Hajra has led the life of an activist. « I am determined to march until I meet the Prime Minister and ask him to respect our rights. »
